Fees & Payment Options
At NoOneElse Law, we understand that family law matters can be both emotionally and financially stressful. Our goal is to make high-quality legal help accessible and transparent, so you always know what to expect.
We offer a sliding scale hourly rate, flat fees for certain services, and flexible options for both full representation and limited/unbundled legal services. We also charge a modest consultation fee that is applied toward your legal costs if you decide to move forward with our firm.
Sliding Scale Rates
To make our services more affordable, we use a sliding scale fee structure that applies to both hourly and flat-fee services. Our rates are based on household income and overall financial circumstances, starting at $175 per hour and capped at the market rate of $350 per hour.
When determining your rate, we consider the full financial picture, not just income. We also consider extenuating circumstances such as limited access to community or shared household funds, significant medical expenses, or other financial hardships that may affect your ability to pay. During your consultation, we review this information together to determine a fair and appropriate rate within our sliding scale.
This approach allows us to provide quality, personalized legal representation at a rate that reflects each client’s unique situation, while maintaining the same high level of care and advocacy for every case we take on..
Flat Fees
For certain case types and defined legal tasks, we offer flat fee arrangements that provide predictability and peace of mind. Flat fees are designed for well-defined work where the time and scope can be reasonably estimated in advance. Examples include uncontested divorces, parenting plan modifications, minor guardianship petitions, and the preparation of agreements or court-ready pleadings.
Each flat fee is tailored to the specific circumstances and complexity of your case. Before beginning any work, you will receive a written quote outlining the total cost so that you can make an informed decision with no surprises. This option allows clients to move forward with clarity and confidence, knowing exactly what to expect from start to finish.
Full Representation
With full representation, our firm handles every aspect of your case, including drafting and filing documents, negotiating settlements, and appearing in court on your behalf. This level of representation provides comprehensive support throughout your case and ensures that you have an advocate managing each step of the process.
To begin work, we require a minimum advance fee deposit of $2,500, which is held in our client trust account and billed against as work is completed. You will receive detailed invoices showing how your funds are applied, and any unused balance will be refunded at the conclusion of your case. Full representation is ideal for clients who prefer ongoing, continuous legal support from start to finish.
Limited / Unbundled Legal Services
Some clients prefer to handle parts of their case on their own but want professional support for specific issues or stages. Our limited-scope or unbundled services allow you to choose exactly what you need help with, such as preparing documents, drafting declarations, or representing you at a particular hearing.
This flexible option gives you access to legal expertise while keeping costs manageable. To begin, we require a minimum advance fee deposit of $1,750, which is held in our client trust account and billed as services are provided. Any remaining balance at the end of your engagement will be promptly refunded. Limited representation is a good choice for clients seeking focused assistance or short-term guidance within a defined scope.
Consultation Fee
We charge a $25 consultation fee for an initial 30-minute meeting. This small fee reserves your time and allows us to provide focused, meaningful guidance about your legal situation. If you choose to hire our firm after the consultation, the consultation fee will be applied toward your total legal fees.
Pro Bono Policy
Our firm does not take on pro bono cases. We recognize that the cost of legal representation can be challenging, which is why we already provide services below market rates through our sliding scale structure. This model allows us to maintain fairness and accessibility while continuing to offer high-quality advocacy to every client.
